Z2008 Federal "SNY" State of New York Militia Waist Belt Plate
Description: Here is an SNY buckle that was recovered off the coast of Myrtle Beach, S.C.. To my knowledge, this style of plate with the iron wire hooks has only been excavated from this particular wreck. Some call the wreck the Governor and others the Suwanee. I believe the actual name has been confirmed in recent years, but I haven't researched it. This plate is missing the light sheet brass skin on the face as most of them are. The lead plate is slightly wavy, but it is from a confirmed wreck. Cool history!
Measures: 56 mm x 87 mm
Recovered: Off the coast of Myrtle Beach
Reference: O'Donnell & Campbell Plate 535
