Z5007 Shepherdstown, Virginia Obsolete Currency Twenty-Five Cent Note, May 1, 1862
Description: Scarce local obsolete currency note from Shepherdstown, Virginia and dated May 1, 1862. This one is signed by William Miller Sheetz who is locally known for the manufacturing of firearms. There are two more signatures from the recorder Jno Reed Jr., and J.H. Shepherd, the Mayor. This is the twenty-five (25) cent variety with the red "Twenty-Five Cts." on the face. The back of the note is blank. This obsolete note was printed by Murphy Print Baltimore Md. with a plate letter of "D" and a serial No. of 331. There are folds and light staining on this one but there are no pinholes.
