Z5157 Spanish American War Era Engineers "ESSAYONS" Coat Button
Description: Decent two-piece Spanish American War era Engineer's coat button manufactured in the U.K. by Charles Pitt. Nayler's reference has Charles Pitt & Co. located at 31 Maddox street in London between 1895-1899. The button has a darker or dull spot in the middle of the face. The back has some oxidation throughout and this was probably cut from an old coat that had seen the elements. . The large British style stand up shank is intact.
Backmark: "PITT & CO / 31 MADDOX ST LONDON W." dm between two solid rings.
Measures: 23.46 mm
