Z3321 .54 Hunt & Jennings "Rocket Ball" Cartridge Patent No. 5,701 August 10, 1848
Description: Here is a very nice example of the patented .54 Hunt & Jennings self-propelled "Loaded Ball" or "Rocket Ball" cartridge. As you can see, this one is in exceptional condition and still retains the marking on the side which reads, "PATENT1848." This cartridge was patented by Walter Hunt of New York City on August 10, 1848. These loaded ball cartridges were specifically designed to be used in the Jennings patented single loading and repeating rifles.
