Z3918 Sectioned Federal 12lb. Wright Fused Case-Shot Shell
Description: Nice clean example of a sectioned 12lb. spherical shell. This particular example was meant to take a Federal Wright Fuse. This one has a clear sulfur matrix with several musket projectiles in place of the case-shot. You can clearly see several of them are the .58 Type III Williams Cleaner bullet. The fuse is missing on this example, and you can clearly see where the powder tube would have been inserted into the projectile. A large group of these shells were recovered from a barn in North Carolina many years ago. The outside of this sectioned ball is still partially coated with black paint.
Measures: 4.5" in diameter
Recovered: North Carolina
