Z4654 Very Rare Empty .31 Volcanic Cartridge Tin for 200 No. 1 Cartridges
Description: Here is a tin that you don't encounter everyday. This japanned tin once held 200 No. 1 (.31) Volcanic cartridges containing the cork and brass disc. which would date this tin to post-1855. The tin shows light wear on the top and sides with heavy wear on the bottom. The paper label on the inside reads,

The balls should be kept in a box, and well greased. If, by accident, a ball should miss fire, it must be carefully pushed back with the rod, leaving the carrier down. The too frequent snapping of the hammer when the arm is not charged, may injure it.
