Z5052 .56-46 Spencer Rimfire Cartridge by FVV&Co.

Description: Decent example of what collectors refer to as the .56-46 "Short Neck" Spencer cartridge by Fitch Van Vechten & Co. of New York. Josiah P. Fitch and Junius R. Van Vechten manufactured rimfire cartridges between 1864-1866. The .56-46 rimfire cartridge was designed for use with the Spencer Sporting Rifles. This example has a projectile with three visible cannelures, a short neck, and a copper casing with a dished head. This example has a nice projectile with some oxidation or verdigris on the casing. The headstamp is visible but the "F" is weak.

Headstamp: Impressed "F.V.V&Co."

Measures: OAL 1.605" CL .927"
