Description: Very nice early 20th century Corps of Engineers coat button. This example still retains most of the dark finish on the face while highlighting the features. McGuinn & Bazelon state that the American Button Company "Began making uniform buttons in 1901 per letter in the US National Museum Collections. The factory burned in 1917 & the company ceased to exist in 1920." Nice example with the stand-up shank intact.
