Description: Here is a very nice .45 Hexagonal Whitworth cartridge. It's housed in a hexagonal pasteboard tube. The bullet is patched and there is a waxed wad affixed to the base. These are known as the "Short" cartridge since there was no need to have the extended powder tube on the back. These were typically meant for match shooting, and powder could be added as needed or desired. This style of cartridge was used from the 1860's-1880's. The paper patch is partially missing on the bullet section of this example.
Measures: OAL 1.738”
