Z5465 American Sporting Gunpowder Tin by Hazard Powder Company (1lb.)
Description: Very nice "American Sporting Gunpowder” tin manufactured by the Hazard Powder Company in Hazard Connecticut. This tin retains the majority of its original black paint with some sporadic flakes here and there. The original lead or pewter cap is marked "HAZARDS / POWDER” and still screws and unscrews with ease. This tin has a few very small shallows dents which appear to have been done during manufacturing and not from neglect or use. The original label is still attached. The label features a hunter on the left with a dog at center. This example is in excellent condition for its age and lightly smells of tobacco smoke. The label reads as follows:

AMERICAN SPORTING POWDER
Manufactured
/
At Hazardville, Conn. by the
HAZARD POWDER CO.

Measures: 5” T x 4” x 1.6”
Reference: "Gun Powder Cans & Kegs” Vol. 1 Pg. 137 (1860’s-1880’s)
