Z6014 Hagner No. 1 Cartridge Box, Indian War Era
Description: Decent Hagner No. 1 cartridge box that was designed to hold 24 .50-70 metallic cartridges. These were used in conjunction with the 1872 Infantry Brace system. Each soldier would carry two of these boxes. Eventually, the army transitioned to the McKeever style box and these became obsolete.

This example is complete and has the bump out on the side to accept the combination tool. The front, inside, and sides of the box are in decent shape showing a little wear and soiling. The "US” is barely visible on the cover but is present. The back is nice with more wear and crazing on the straps. The closure tab is intact with heavy crazing. Overall, a decent Indian War accoutrement!
Measures: 5.5” x 7”
