Z6068 Bingham School Cuff Button, N.C., Script B.S.
Description: Very nice cuff button related to the Bingham School of North Carolina. This example has a script "B.S” on a lined field with 18 five-pointed stars encircling. This button would postdate the American Civil War and may have been made into the 1870’s. This button has a gilted face with wear and the stand-up shank is perfect.
Backmark: "SCOVILL MF’G, CO. / WATERBURY.” Dm with an inner ring of dots.
Measures: 15 mm
Reference: Albert SU41 (Now referred to as Bingham School and not Berkely School)
Reference: "Dating Buttons” Tice. Pg. 71-74 (Exact backmark is unlisted. Plate B7-7 is similar with no inner ring of dots. The date on that example is Ca. 1860-Twentieth Century.
