Z6436 .38 Short Rimfire Cartridges by Winchester (Full/Sealed)
Description: Nice early two-piece box of fifty .38 Short rimfire cartridges. These were manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. This is the early green box and according to Giles & Shuey, it was phased out of the Winchester catalogues by June 1887. It has the early incorrect Stetson’s patent date of October 24, 1871. The correct date should be October 31, 1871. This box does have a little wear and soiling from age. There is some wear to the high spots on the lid and one dent in the pasteboard on the "O” in short. There are some small cracks here and there on the red side seal. The back or bottom of the box has a dent in the pasteboard near the center. All seams are sealed except for the right bottom side. It’s starting to split but is still holding on! A nice early box!
