Description: Rare experimental cartridge known as the .40 x 2.5” Martin-primed cartridge. A series of sectioned examples of this cartridge were on display at the Philadelphia Exposition of 1876. These were in drawer No. 9 and are numbered from 432-447 with each cartridge varying slightly. This example has a round nosed lead bullet with a paper patch. The case and anvil are copper. There is a very small flat spot on one side of the bullet. There is a small adhesive rectangle on one side near the case mouth. A hard variant to find!
