Description: Rare sectioned .45 reduction experimental cartridge. This type of cartridge was on display at the Philadelphia Exposition of 1876. This example is known as #397 of Drawer No. 9.
The series of .45 experimental reduction cartridges were located in drawer No. 9. This is an internally Benet-primed cartridge with a copper cup. Lewis states, "Charge 75 grains, bullet 440 grain, cannelured, and inserted only .2 inch. Base wad (lubricated) and dipped. Two cannelures exposed. Report of 1872 Caliber Board No. 26. O-2.715, C 1.805. A very rare example!
