Z6874 .40-70 Remington Reloadable Cartridge
Description: Scarce new primed example known as the .40-70 Remington reloadable cartridge. Hoyem states, "This is the .40-70 Sharps case made with a screw-on steel head. The hollow screw which attaches the head to the case serves as the anvil for the Berdan primer. After firing the head was screwed off to remove the spent primer, a fresh one placed on the anvil, and the head screwed back on for the next shot.” Nice example with some fingerprints and tarnish on the brass case. A scarce variant that is rarely offered!
