Z3140 .38 Long Rimfire Cartridge (Mead's Patent Explosive Tip Bullet)
Description: Very nice cartridge with a .22 blank inserted into the nose of the projectile. This particular example has the improved explosive bullet patented by S.H. Mead Jr. on December 10, 1872. These bullets were cast with a hollow nose cavity. This allowed a .22 rimfire blank to be inserted into the nose. Upon impact, the rim would be crushed and the bullet would explode. This is quite a scarce cartridge!
Measures: OAL 1.279" CL .876"
