Z7257 .40-70 Sharps Necked "Board Dummy” Cartridge by W.R.A.Co.
Description: Nice .40-70 Sharps necked "board dummy” cartridge by Winchester. Per Shuey, these were used in the Sharps Model 1874 mid-range rifles. The headstamped version appears in the Winchester catalogue in 1887 and is gone by 1917. This example has a flat nose lead bullet with a paper patch, a 2.25” brass case, and a #1 oval brass primer. There are three holes on the board side. Two are for the board and one is a small singular punch crimp. A nice overall example with a soiled paper patch. This example retains quite a bit of the original lacquer finish.
