Winchester .40-50 Regular Board Dummy Cartridge
Description: Nice example of the .40-50 Regular "board dummy” cartridge manufactured by Winchester. These were used in the Sharps Model 1874 hunting rifle. These first appeared in the 1875 Winchester catalog and were gone by 1917. This exact headstamp shows up around 1914. It has a paper patched lead bullet, a necked brass case, and a 2 ½ Winchester primer. The paper patch has light soiling and the case has some spotting. There are two holes on the board side with a wooden spacer rod on the inside of the case. There is a small dent on the hole closest to the bullet.
