Z7761 30-Bore Calisher & Terry Cartridge Wrapper

Description: Scarce outer wrapper that once contained ten 30-Bore cartridges for the Type II Terry’s Patent breech-loading carbine. These carbines were predominately used by British Cavalry, but a few were imported and used in the American Civil War. Both Jefferson Davis and J.E.B. Suart had one during the war. The firm of Calisher & Terry was located at 22, 23 & 24, Whittall St. in Birmingham between 1861-1869. The wrapper still retains the original shape and the closure tabs on the back are held in place with a paper clip. The paper has light soling with wear to the corners and edges. There are a few holes with the largest hole located on the right side. The black print on the face of the packet reads:
