Z7941 .56-50 Spencer Cartridge, Full Circle Crimp

Description: Scarce .56-50 Spencer cartridge with a full circle crimp. These are thought to be early production .56-50 cartridges manufactured at the Frankford or Springfield Arsenals. Both arsenals may have made them as there are two distinct types. One has a deep case cannelure, and one has a shallow case cannelure such as this one. This example has a fairly clean case. The bullet has a flat tip and is slightly oxidized. There is one small dent in the case near the mouth. A scarce cartridge.
