Z7913 Civil War Friction Primers, Frankford Arsenal
Description: Scarcer, large size packet that originally contained 10 Civil War friction primers manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal. The majority of the packets encountered are the five packs. This is the larger size ten pack. The label reads, "10 / Friction Primers / For / Cannon / Frankford Arsenal / 1863.” The front label shows a friction primer on each side of the face. This example has been opened across the top revealing eight original remaining primers. The bottom portion remains unopened. The outer dark blue wrapper remains mostly intact with a few light spots. The waterproof coating still partially covers the surface and shines on the top of the paper. There is a faded collection number on the back in white. A scarce variant that isn’t often encountered!
