Z8099 18MM Swiss M1842/59 Prelaz-Burnand Cartridge
Description: In 1859, the Swiss began to update their firearms by switching the outdated smoothbore M1816/1822 and M1842 to rifled muskets. The new system was known as the the Prelaz-Burnand conversion.

These newly converted rifled percussion muskets used a hollow base lead bullet weighing 356grs., and a powder charge of 70grs. The paper cartridges had a folded tail, and the base was dipped in tallow for lubrication. This example is about as minty as they come and appears to be right out of a packet.
