Z8173 French 11MM Chassepot Needlefire Cartridge
Description: Nice example of the French 11mm (.433”) Chassepot cartridge. These were used in the Model 1866 Chassepot needlefire, breech-loading rifles known as the Fusil Mod. 66. This is a very nice two-piece paper & silk gauze cartridge with the primer located at the rear. The front portion holds the projectile, and the rear portion holds the powder charge. This is a nice clean example with one small oxidation pop in the paper near the nose. This is about as nice as they get! A nice cartridge to display alongside your M1866 Chassepot!
Measures: OAL 2.703”
