Z8227 16 Ga. "Field” Shotshell by W.C.Co. (Velonite Powder)
Description: Nice early 16 Ga. factory loaded shell manufactured by the Western Cartridge Company of East Alton, Illinois. This is a factory load with a "Velonite” top wad. Velonite was a smokeless bulk powder used by W.C.Co. in the early 1900’s. The Velonite trademark was registered on April 22, 1913 and was reported to have been used since 1906. A nice shotshell with a little soiling on the paper case and spotting around the sides of the cup.

Top Wad: "VELONITE / 2 ½ / 1-6 / W.C.CO.”
