Z8279 Jacob’s Percussion Tube for Rifle Shells (Empty)

Description: Scarce example of the Jacob’s Percussion Tube. These examples are empty, and it appears the compound has been removed. The copper tubes have a sharp pointed nose with a tapered rear that is opened on the end. These tubes were inserted into the nose cavity of Jacob’s bullets creating an explosive tipped projectile that would explode upon impact. These come in a variety of sizes. These examples are lightly embossed "ELEY” around the edge of the nose.
