Z8389 Frankford Arsenal .30-40 Krag Die and Punch

Description: This lot includes a .30-40 Krag resizing die as well as a resizing punch. Both items were manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal and were used to reload ammunition. These are often found in the field reloading kits issued to activated troops in the field.

The resizing die is marked, "RESIZING DIE / FRANKFORD ARSENAL / J.M.G. 1905 / ??????????.” There is a partial line across the bottom that appears to be SANDERSON ??. The J.M.G. stands for Lt. Col. John M. Gilbert who was an inspector at the Frankford Arsenal.

The resizing punch is marked, "RESIZING / PUNCH / F.A. S.H. / 1905.” There are some other initials stamped into the surface that are illegible.

Both examples have portions of the original hardened surface with pitting. These are hard to find if you are missing them from a field kit.
