Nice example of the .52-70 Sharps cartridge, thought to have been manufactured by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company. These cartridges were used in converted Civil War Sharps carbines that did not have their bores reduced to .50 caliber during the conversion process. This example features a round-nose lead bullet with two cannelures seated in a slightly tapered copper case.
The bullet exhibits moderate oxidation. The case shows some spotting and discoloration but is free of any significant dings or dents. Overall, this is a nice example of the .52-70 Sharps rimfire cartridge used in converted surplus Civil War Sharps carbines.
