Z3189 Two-Piece Chief Petty Officer Coat Button

Description: Very nice example loaded with gilt. Tice and Albert designate these as C.P.O. buttons. The official rank of C.P.O. was designated in early 1893.

Backmark: "D.EVANS & CO. / *ATTLEBORO MASS*" dm with inner ring of lines.

Measures: 22.93 mm

Reference: Albert NA131B

Reference: Tice's "Dating Buttons" book indicates this backmark was used from 1860's to 1880's.
