Z8474 .56-52 Spencer Cartridge with Extended Double-Shot Sabot

Description: Rare .56-52 shot cartridge with a double load and an extended green paper sabot. The paper sabot patent was held by Henry W. Mason of South Coventry, Connecticut. He was awarded Patent No. 219,491 dated September 9, 1879. A.M.C.Co. used N.P.E. cases from Winchester, U.M.C., and U.S.C.Co. to load these shot cartridges. This example has a primed case manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. These cartridges are very rare due to the easily damaged extended shot sabots.

This example is in very nice shape. The copper case has some spotting. The green paper sabot is tight and still coated in a layer of wax. One of the best examples that I have had!
