Z8730 P-1853 .577 Enfield Cartridge with Green Band (Published)
Description: Nice example of a .577 cartridge used in the Pattern-1853 Enfield rifle. This example has a green paper band around the top. You can still see plenty of lubricant or tallow covering the bullet section on the base of the cartridge. There is a single, factory-made slice down the side of the paper by the bullet. This allowed the bullet to easily be removed from the cartridge. This example has a wood plug in the cavity as the knot is tied on the outside of the bullet’s cavity. Dean’s collection number "107” is written on the back. A great example that is published in the bible of Civil War cartridges.
