.56-52 Spencer “Dummy” Cartridge Box by U.M.C. (Published)
Z8820 .56-52 Spencer "Dummy” Cartridge Box by U.M.C. (Published)
Description: Very nice example of the rare .56-52 Spencer "Dummy Cartridges” box. This box is empty and was originally manufactured for the Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Shot, blank, and dummy cartridges were typically housed in standard boxes, which were then over-labeled to indicate the specific contents. This particular example features the rare "Dummy Cartridges” over label and is the exact item published in Marcot’s Spencer Repeating Firearms (page 214).
The box retains legible top and bottom labels. A portion of the original side seal also remains intact on the box top. There is minimal soiling, the interior is clean, and although the outer edges show some wear, all seams are intact with no splits. An excellent example for the advanced Spencer collector.
Measures: 3” x 3” x 1.75”
