Z8873 Rare .56-50 Spencer Cartridge Box by S.F.M. Paris (Published)
Description: Rare, empty two-piece green box that once contained ten .56-50 Spencer rimfire cartridges, manufactured by Société Française des Munitions of Paris, France. Depending on the source, these boxes were produced sometime between 1900 and the 1930s. I have seen them used to hold both .56-52 and .56-50 Spencer cartridges, but I have yet to encounter one containing .56-56 Spencer cartridges.

This scarce two-piece box is in decent condition. The lid is missing its left side, and several seams show evidence of repair. However, the orange label with black print is legible and remains in excellent condition. The bottom portion of the box has a small hole in one of the side seams; all other seams are intact. The bottom and side walls show slight bulging.

A rare Spencer rimfire box to find on this side of the pond! This piece is published in Marcot’s Spencer book and comes from the George Kass collection. A great example!
