Z8917 Rare 18mm Swiss Milbank-Amsler Ammunition Packet
Description: This is a scarce and well-preserved example of an empty Swiss 18mm rimfire ammunition packet. In 1867, the Swiss Confederation adopted the 18mm Milbank Amsler—a breech-loading conversion of the earlier Model 1842/49 Prelaz-Burnand musket, utilizing a system similar to the trapdoor design.
While this packet is empty, it originally contained ten large 18mm rimfire cartridges dated 1869. To help retain its shape, it has been filled with inert material and tightly wrapped in cellophane for protection. The exterior shows tape residue but remains intact and solid overall.
The 18mm Milbank Amsler cartridge is notable as the largest rimfire round adopted for military conversion muskets, making this packet a rare and historically significant collectible.
