U.S. Cartridge Company Advertising Brochure
Z8926 U.S. Cartridge Company Advertising Brochure
Description: This original bifold advertising brochure was produced by the United States Cartridge Company to promote their ammunition for rifles and revolvers. Highlighting their government-tested superiority, it’s a striking example of early 20th-century ammunition marketing.
The interior boldly features results from a government ammunition test conducted in June 1909, in which the US Cartridge Company placed first in both rifle and revolver cartridge trials—outperforming major competitors including Winchester Repeating Arms, Frankford Arsenal, and the Union Metallic Cartridge Co. The tests were overseen by a committee appointed by the Secretary of War, providing authoritative backing for the company’s performance claims.
The reverse side is geared toward hunters, featuring the phrase "FOR GAME SHOOTING – SPECIFY US BRAND” along with two woodcut-style hunting illustrations. The top image shows a deer leaping through brush, while the bottom depicts two hunters transporting their game in a canoe labeled "Pathfinder."
This item is in excellent overall condition, with strong color and crisp printing. Minor handling wear consistent with age. I have included both photos and scans of the front and back of the brochure.
A scarce and visually appealing piece of cartridge advertising—ideal for collectors of vintage firearms ephemera, ammunition history, or early American sporting goods promotions.
