Hank Williams Jr. “Top Gun” Custom Shotshell by Federal
Z8789 Hank Williams Jr. "Top Gun” Custom Shotshell by Federal
Description: Offered here is an original shotshell loaded by Federal for Hank Williams Jr. This is a modern plastic shotshell with a brass-plated cup. It features case wall print (CWP) of Hank’s signature hawk logo above the text "Hank Williams Jr. / Top Gun.” The reverse side is marked 8, 3, 1 1/8, indicating shot size, shell length (3"), and shot weight (1 1/8 oz).
Note: while marked as a 3" shell, the actual overall length (OAL) of this example is approximately 2.3" crimped.
Federal, like several other manufacturers, offers custom-printed shotshells through their Custom Shop program—if you’ve got the money, they’ll make it! There were a variety of custom shells in Doc’s collection, but this was the only Hank Williams Jr. example I could find.
This particular shell comes from the collection of David "Doc” Frederickson, Federal’s unofficial historian. Doc assembled what is believed to be the largest Federal shotshell collection in the United States.
If you’re looking for something firearm-related tied to "Bocephus,” and with the pedigree of Doc’s legendary collection, this might be the perfect piece for you.
