Z8945 Spanish American War Era Engineers "ESSAYONS" Coat Button
Description: Decent two-piece Spanish American War era Engineer's coat button manufactured in the U.K. by Charles Pitt. Nayler's reference has Charles Pitt & Co. located at 31 Maddox Street in London between 1895-1899. The button has a darker or dull spot near the middle of the face with some wear to the finish on the right side of the face. The back is very nice and still retains some gilt with a little verdigris around the base of the shank. The large British style stand-up shank is intact.
Backmark: "PITT & CO / 31 MADDOX ST LONDON W." dm between two solid rings.
Measures: 23.38 mm
