Z8970 .58 Unknown Handmade Centerfire Cartridge
Description: Interesting example of a handmade .577/.58 caliber cartridge.
It features a round-nose projectile with two small, exposed cannelures, seated in a handmade brass case. The case is brazed or soldered along the side seam, and the head appears to have been formed separately and then crimped against the case wall. The primer is non-standard, likely made of copper or brass.
This cartridge may be of Ottoman, Afghan, or broader Middle Eastern or Central Asian origin—regions known for producing handmade ammunition for .577/.58 caliber conversion rifles. A well-executed example of improvised or non-standard manufacture, it reflects the kind of craftsmanship often seen in post-military use of surplus rifles.
A unique and desirable item for collectors of exotic or hand-made ammunition.
