Z8971 Frankford Arsenal, 1875, .45 Colt & Schofield Ammo Packet
Description: Excellent example of a full, sealed packet of .45 caliber ammunition manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal in 1875. This ammunition was designed for use in both the Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army and the Model 1875 Smith & Wesson Schofield revolvers. The cartridges are Benet-primed (an internal priming system) and were produced by Frankford Arsenal between 1875 and 1881.

The packet contains 12 cartridges, housed in a pasteboard box wrapped in a paper cover and then lacquered to provide waterproofing.

While not quite as scarce or desirable as the 1876-dated packets, the 1875-dated packet is still highly regarded as a true "Custer Era” issue—and marks the first year of issue for the shorter .45 Schofield cartridge.

This example is clean and complete, retaining its original pull string. There are a few very minor pinholes along the upper edges, but the label remains crisp and well-preserved.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a better example. If you're looking to display an authentic Custer Era ammunition packet alongside your period Colt or Schofield revolver, this one is an ideal candidate.

Measures: 3.25” x 1.5” x 1”
