Z9051 WWI .38 Revolver Ball Cartridges by REM-UMC 1918 Contract
Description: Nice group of ten .38 revolver ball cartridges used in the Colt Double Action Revolver. In 1917 the manufacture of .45 pistols and ammunition wasn’t enough to keep up with demand. The .38 revolver was pressed back into service for those not on the front lines. REM-UMC was awarded a contract by the Army for 8,950,000 rounds. They were again awarded another contract by the Navy and a total of 3,135,000 rounds were delivered to them as of November 1918.
This cartridge has a round nose lead 148 grain bullet over 3 grains of bullseye powder. The brass case has a single bullet seating cannelure. It has a No. 6 pistol primed stamped with a "U”.
These cartridges are in nice condition with a few oxidation spots here and there on the case and head. The primers are sealed with black primer annulus. Excellent lot of WWI ammunition that would look great in a cartridge box on display next to your Colt Double Action revolver.
