12 Ga. Pointer N.P.E. Shotshell by Clinton Cartridge Co.
Z9057 12 Ga. Pointer N.P.E. Shotshell by Clinton Cartridge Co.
Description: Nice example of a 12 Gauge "Pointer” New Primed Empty (N.P.E.) shotshell manufactured by the Clinton Cartridge Company of Chicago, Illinois. This shell features a red paper case, high brass base, and a brass battery cup loaded with a No. 3 Western copper primer.
Production of Clinton’s "Pointer” brand began around 1904, placing it at the forefront of what would become the golden age of American bird hunting. This era—spanning the early 20th century through the 1950s—was marked by the rise of sporting culture, the popularity of upland game pursuits, and the widespread use of side-by-side shotguns in the fields and marshes across the country. The "Pointer” line, with its classic styling and evocative name, was marketed to appeal directly to the American sportsman.
A fine example of early 20th-century shotshell manufacturing and a nostalgic reminder of a richly storied sporting tradition.
