Z9037 Rare .45 Whitworth Cylindrical Bullet – 530 Grains
Description: Excellent example of an original .45 caliber Whitworth rifle bullet. This specimen is paper-patched, a technique used to reduce barrel leading and improve accuracy by ensuring a better gas seal and more consistent performance.

These cylindrical bullets were manufactured in England during the mid-19th century and saw limited but impactful use during the American Civil War. Most were shipped through the Union blockade and issued to Confederate sharpshooters using imported Whitworth rifles—legendary for their long-range precision and used in some of the war’s most famous sniper engagements.

Patched Whitworth projectiles were typically packaged ten rounds per labeled packet, as shown in the accompanying photo. This particular bullet was removed directly from the original packet shown, which is not included in this sale but is shown for reference only. There is a slight tear to the paper patch near the top where the bullet tip is exposed.

A scarce and highly collectible example of specialized Confederate-used ammunition—ideal for display alongside other long-range or imported Civil War relics.
