Z9114 Swiss Percussion Cap Packet – Canton De Vaud 1851
Description: Scarce packet of Swiss percussion caps intended for use with the Model 1842 musket. This packet contains 25 percussion caps issued for the Canton of Vaud (western Switzerland) and is dated 1851. Originally, these packets were packaged ten per box. The overall style is very similar to U.S. versions from the same era.
The percussion caps are housed in an empty cartridge roll. This Swiss packet holds 25 caps, whereas U.S. packets traditionally held 12. In construction, the Swiss version features a cemented nose and a folded tail, while the U.S. version typically has a tied nose with a folded tail. This example retains its original full-length label, cemented at both ends. The label remains intact, though it is loose along one side.
