Z9141 12 Ga. Western FIELD Window Shotshell
Description: Decent example of a 12 Gauge Western "FIELD” window shotshell. This cartridge features a white top wad with red print, still clearly legible, secured by a neat roll crimp. The red paper case shows scattered fading and spotting but remains solid. A clear cutout "window” reveals the internal components—showing the powder charge, wads, and shot load.

The brass head has a crosshatched corrugation pattern, and the primer has been punched. The load consists of 3 drams of Dupont powder with 1 ¼ oz. of #7 ½ chilled lead shot.

Window shells such as this were produced primarily as salesman’s samples and demonstration pieces, giving dealers and customers a direct view of the cartridge’s internal construction. Western’s early window shells are particularly collectible, and this example dates to roughly 1914 through the mid-1920s.
