Scarce 16 Ga. British Loaded Remington Kleanbore Shotshell
Z9137 Scarce 16 Ga. British Loaded Remington Kleanbore Shotshell
Description: Scarce 16 Gauge Remington Kleanbore "British Loaded” shotshell. These unusual cartridges began life as new primed empties (N.P.E.) manufactured at the Rem-UMC plant in the United States and then exported to Remington’s Brimsdown, England facility. Once overseas, the shells were finished using British powder and components. The Brimsdown plant, established circa 1913–1915 and in operation until 1946, supplied both the domestic sporting market and export trade.
This mid-1930s example features a tan top wad with the "Wetproof” callout, a green ribbed paper case, and a low brass head marked "CASE MADE IN USA.” The case wall retains bold, legible print reading:
"KLEANBORE / BRITISH LOADED / Remington”
Overall condition is excellent, with vivid case color, sharp graphics, and only the slightest soiling and minor spotting on the head.
Remington "British Loaded” shotshells are seldom encountered in the U.S., with the 16-gauge variety proving especially difficult to find. A highly collectible and well-preserved example of Remington’s distinctive Brimsdown export production.
Headstamp: "REM-UMC / CASE MADE / NO 16 / IN USA / REMINGTON”
Top Wad: "REMINGTON / WETPROOF / 5 / SMOKELESS POWDER”
Measures: OAL 2.375”
