Z9306 .50-45 Cadet/Navy Cartridge, Benet-Primed Iron Cup
Description: Nice example of what is known as the .50-45 Cadet/Navy cartridge. This variant has a flat nose bullet crimped into an internally primed copper case using the Benet-primer system. This variant has a magnetic iron cup holding the primer against the head. Typically, these cartridges have an internal copper cup. The indents are approximately .264” from the base and there is a gap between the two crimps of .375”
Per the "Small Arms Ammunition at the International Exposition Philadelphia 1876” this cartridge was originally adopted for use in the M1868 Remington carbine which used the "Rolling Block” system. It goes so far as to say that this cartridge is often misidentified as the Cadet cartridge.
This example is in nice shape. The case is very little with spotting. The head has two tic marks with tooling slippage. An excellent Indian War variant!
