Z9360 .45 Revolver Ball Cartridge – Model 1882
Description: Nice example of a Model of 1882 ball cartridge for .45-caliber revolvers. An early, reloadable copper-cased variety manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal in April 1887. It is loaded with a 230-grain flat-nose bullet seated over 28 grains of black powder in a Boxer-primed copper case. This cartridge was intended for use in the Model 1873 Colt "Peacemaker” and the Model 1875 Smith & Wesson "Schofield.”
This is the earlier version with a .525" rim diameter; in June 1887 the rim was officially reduced to .513" to prevent rim overlap in the cylinder. A pleasing example with light oxidation on the bullet and a few small spots on the copper case. Overall, very good vintage condition for any Indian War display.
