Z9385 Lot of Five .45 Blank Cartridges - M1882 - Colt & Schofield
Description: Nice lot containing five .45 blank cartridges manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal. These were used in both the Model 1873 Colt "Peacemaker” and the Model 1875 Smith & Wesson "Schofield” revolvers. Each cartridge features a copper case with a slight roll crimp at the mouth securing a pasteboard wad, and a copper primer.
This style of cartridge was introduced around 1880 and was later designated as the Blank, Model of 1882. By around 1890, the case material was changed from copper to brass.
The examples in this lot are in overall decent condition, showing only minimal case spotting. The wads are present but in varying states of condition. All primers are intact, and two cases have small dents near the case mouth.
A solid and representative lot of late Indian War–era blank cartridges.
