Lot of Five .38 Revolver Blank Cartridges for Colt D.A. Revolver
Z9386 Lot of Five .38 Revolver Blank Cartridges for Colt D.A. Revolver
Description: Nice lot containing five .38 Long Colt blank cartridges manufactured in February 1905 at the Frankford Arsenal. These blank cartridges were used in the .38 Long Colt double-action revolver.
This is the straight-case variant, featuring a roll crimp securing a lacquered cup. The cases are brass with copper primers and a single case cannelure. In 1900, Frankford Arsenal transitioned from black powder to smokeless powder for this type of cartridge. Eventually, the cases were necked down to increase the report upon firing.
All cartridges in this lot were manufactured in February 1905 and remain in very nice condition, showing only minor spotting on the brass.
A fine and representative lot of early 20th-century blank cartridges used in the .38 Colt D.A. revolver.
