Z9391 Generic Packet of Six .31 Pocket Revolver Cartridges
Description: Excellent generic ammunition packet containing six .31 caliber combustible cartridges for the Colt or Whitney Pocket Revolver. Not much is known about these unmarked packets. Some believe they may have been a commercial product of H.W. Mason for surplus revolvers, but that has yet to be confirmed.
The packet construction is typical of the period: the combustible cartridges are housed in a pasteboard box wrapped in buff paper. The designation "31” is handwritten in pencil on the face of the packet. It still retains the waxed linen pull string attached to the upper left edge. The paper is in great shape with only minor soiling, as expected for its age, and all seams remain intact.
An excellent example of a scarcer .31 pocket combustible packet without the traditional printed label. This packet was formerly part of the collection of noted author and researcher Terry White. A small sticker bearing White’s collection number remains affixed to the reverse of the wrapper, attesting to its provenance.
