Z9357 10.4x38R (.41 Swiss) Rimfire Cartridge - GG
Description: Nice example of a 10.4x38R (.41 Swiss) rimfire cartridge. Originally designed for use in the Swiss Vetterli rifle, the 10.4x38R was adopted in the 1860s and remained in service into the early 1880s. The Vetterli was one of the first bolt-action repeating rifles to be adopted on a national scale, and this distinctive rimfire cartridge was developed specifically for it.
This French commercial example features a flat-nosed lead bullet with three grooves, crimped into a necked copper case. The base is stamped with the intertwined, back-to-back "GG” monogram — the trademark of Société Française des Munitions (SFM) of Paris, France, referencing the legacy of the former Gévelot & Gaupillat establishments.
A well-preserved cartridge still coated in a thin layer of lubricant. The bullet shows minimal oxidation, and the copper case exhibits only a few scattered spots. An attractive and increasingly hard-to-find example with the desirable "GG” headstamp.
Headstamp: Raised (back-to-back) "GG” in a depressed circle.
